Two-Year-Old Child Abandoned at Goodwill in Southaven, One Suspect Arrested
Southaven, MS – Mississippi Child Protective Services now have custody of a two-year-old boy who was abandoned at a Goodwill in Southaven.
Police say around 9:40am on Monday at the 57 Stateline Rd. E Goodwill location, the boy was found with a note and a bag of clothes. The child couldn’t speak and wasn’t able to give his name or his parents’ names. The note, written on a paper towel, said, “Child abandoned…no phone number for mom.”

A male suspect walked up to a Goodwill employee and handed him a grocery bag containing the note and a change of clothes for the boy. He said, “The child’s mother couldn’t care for him,” and walked away, leaving the child with the employee. The employee also said he wasn’t wearing appropriate clothing for the cold weather.
Authorities received several tips and the FBI assisting in the investigation. The two suspects were seen on camera at the Goodwill. Through investigation, the child and the parents were identified.
Police reportedly found the male suspect across state lines in Shelby County, Tennessee. The male, who has not been identified, resisted arrest and rammed into a deputy’s vehicle.
The female suspect is still outstanding and police are searching for her.
