Philadelphia police announced that they have made over 200 arrests in the days since the shooting death of Walter Wallace Jr. who was approaching police refusing to put down a knife this week.
In contrast, 57 officers have also been injured during the unrest, including a female sergeant who was hit by a speeding pickup truck who suffered a broken leg in the first night of unrest.

Protests devolved into rioting and looting overnight as the National Guard was deployed by the Governor to assist Philadelphia Police to quell the growing riots in and around the city of Philadelphia.
Protests began in small numbers almost immediately following the shooting of a man refusing to put down a knife and advancing on officers after being called to the scene of a domestic disturbance in the 6100 block of Locust street where the shooting occurred.
By later the same evening several hundred protestors had filled Locust street and spilled out into other areas when looting began, destroying the storefronts of dozens of businesses as looters smashed windows to gain [...]
