Concord, NC – Officer Jason Shuping, 25, was killed Wednesday night in a shootout with an armed suspect in a case that also saw the suspect killed and another officer, Kaleb Robinson, 23, shot.
Shuping had been with the department since 2019, his shooting causing an immediate outpouring of support for the Concord Police department and its officers. Governor Roy Cooper stated that he had spoken with Shuping’s parents and Concord Police Chief Gary Gacek to offer support and condolences.

Gaston County, NC – A Mount Holly Police Officer was killed early Friday morning in a shootout. The Gaston Emergency Medical Services said the incident occurred around 3:30am at the Mount Holly Car Wash and Arcade on Beatty Drive.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) said that officers responded to a burglary call at the business and came in contact with an armed suspect there. Multiple shots were reportedly fired by the suspect and three officers from MHPD and a Gaston County deputy who also responded.

On Tuesday, Deputy Allison, 26, died as a result of that crash. Sheriff Keith Stone said in a statement that the deputy was ejected through the passenger side door. Sheriff Stone also said that Deputy Allison had just completed a traffic stop when he was called to respond to a motorcycle driving in a “careless and reckless manner.”
