Houston, TX – Early Sunday morning, around 2:20am, three Harris County Deputies were shot and a woman was killed outside of the Set Nightclub in the 2900 block of Travis Street.
Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner said the deputies were responding to a fight in the parking lot when a thus far unidentified man started firing.
Finner said, “I don’t know what led him to shoot into a crowd where police officers and other citizens were, but we’ll find out.”
The deceased woman was described by police as in her 40’s and as an innocent bystander.

Harris County, TX – In 2008, 47-year-old Officer Gary Gryder was killed while working a construction road block when 35-year-old Hung Truong crashed his car into the officer and his partner, Fred Pyland. Officer Pyland suffered a broken leg, and Truong said he crashed because he was “hearing voices.”
Truong was charged with manslaughter. At his hearing in 2009, Truong was found not guilty by reason of insanity. He was sent to Rusk State Hospital where he stayed until his release this week.

Houston, TX – The Houston Police Department announced that on Thursday night, 29 people were rescued from what appears to be a human trafficking operation. Police said that they were called to 4800 Raven Ridge to investigate a report of a man running down the street in his underwear. When they contacted the man, he told police that he and several others were being held against their will.
The man led police to the home he was held at nearby, where police located 27 other males and one other female inside the house, all in their underwear. Reportedly, the people found were from Mexico, Cuba, Honduras, and El Salvador and were picked up in Brownsville and brought to [...]
Houston, TX – The Houston police officer who was shot and killed on Monday afternoon has been identified as Sgt. Sean Rios.
Sgt. Rios was responding to a call of shots fired shortly after 1:30 pm on Monday when he engaged the suspect. Gunfire was exchanged and Rios was shot.
Rios attempted to go to a nearby motel for help and succumbed to his injuries at the motel.
Sgt. Rios was a 25 year veteran with the force and leaves behind four children.
