Officer Shot, Suspect Killed in Sacramento Area Shooting
Carmichael, CA – The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said that an officer involved shooting left one officer injured and a suspect dead Friday night.
The incident occurred when detectives were following up on a gang-related shooting at the Crestview North apartment complex just after 8pm Friday. The located a vehicle with two subjects inside. “At some point during the contact,” the department said, “multiple shots were fired striking one detective and the suspect.”
The officer was driven to the hospital by another officer. He has not been identified but the department said he is 47 year old and a 15-year veteran.
The other occupant of the vehicle was arrested on felony charges that were not related to the shooting.
There were reports of another suspect wanted in connection to the incident, and after several hours of searching, the third suspect was arrested. Few details on the shooting have been released at the time of this writing, including the identity of the suspects.
A source has told LENN that the deputy is expected to recover. It’s reported that he is in serious but stable condition.
