Maryland Officer Shot, Homicide Suspect Killed In Gun Battle
Prince George’s County, Maryland – A gun battle Tuesday afternoon between police and a wanted murder suspect in Florida has ended with an officer shot, and the suspect dead.
Montgomery County officers were attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for a Homicide in Jacksonville, Florida, when an officer was shot. The incident occurred at the Crestleigh Apartments on Muirkirk Road near Route 197 in the Laurel area.
Authorities said officers were acting as part of a United States Marshal’s task force when they contacted the suspect, who has yet been identified. The suspect began firing during the initial contact and officers returned fire. Police chased the suspect a short distance on foot and he was fatally shot by officers, according to Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones.
Police said the officer’s condition is unknown at this time. The officer has not yet been identified.
