IMPD Officers Open Fire On Suspect Who Refused To Lower Weapon
Indianapolis, IN – According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a suspect was shot outside of a sports bar by Indianapolis Police after refusing to lower his weapon.
Two Indianapolis Police Officers were working off duty when they were alerted to an incident outside of El Chila Sports Bar. The suspect was pointing a gun into the crowd.
Officers ordered the suspect to lower his weapon and when he refused officers opened fire hitting the suspect.
The suspect then took off on foot and police chased after him. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and administered medical aid. The suspect was then transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital for medical treatment and is in stable condition.
The suspect has been arrested and is charged with possession of a firearm without a license and pointing a firearm.
The incident is being investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Critical Response Team.
