Fairfax County Sees Three Shootings in 36 Hours

by Jennifer KernsNovember 13, 2020

Police in Northern Virginia are investigating three shootings in 36 hours.

A juvenile boy was found dead in Springfield after a report of a shooting at a Motel 6.

Then another juvenile, a 17-year old, suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body in another part of the county, where an 18-year old at the house was reported to be cooperating with authorities.

Lastly, police were called to a gun range where two men suffered gunshot wounds in what was suspected to be a domestic disturbance. Both men were taken to the hospital where one man has life-threatening injuries.

The trio of shootings had Fairfax County law enforcement working around the clock, in an environment that is already tense in Virginia. State Senate Democrats in August unveiled wide-ranging proposal to overhaul policing there including limits on use of force, police codes of conduct and criminal justice; however, they stopped short of defunding the police as other jurisdictions across the country have enacted.

Anyone who has information on any of the shootings is encouraged to contact the Fairfax County Police Department at (703) 246-7800, press option 2, or anonymously via Crime Solvers at (866) 411-TIPS.
