Antifa had planned protests in both cities. Much like the protests of the past eight months, they each turned violent.

New York, NY – During a Black Liberation March on Martin Luther King Day in New York, 11 officers were injured following a dispersal order. The march started from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and moved toward City Hall.
Twenty-eight arrests were made during the event after the violence started. Most arrests were made for “disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and blocking the roadway.”

Waltham, MA – During National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day earlier in the month, the Fitzgerald Elementary School posted a photo to their social media of a wooden thin blue line flag with the words “Happy National Law Enforcement Day” above it.
The principal of the school, Jennifer Santillo, and PTO president Lauren Fournier decided that the post wasn’t appropriate and had it removed.
In addition, the two women sent a joint letter addressing the post to parents. They mentioned that the thin blue line holds “opposition to Black Lives Matter and other social justice movements” and that “the use of the image was therefore a regrettable [...]
Portland, OR – LENN’s Voice of American Law Enforcement, Randy Sutton, spoke to a group of Portland Police officers who have been on the front lines of the rioting for the majority of the last eight months. Sutton called his seminar Pride in Policing and used his time to remind officers that most of the people across our nation support law enforcement, as well as to address the rising issue of Post Traumatic Stress Injury/Disorder in policing.
The leadership with the Portland Police Bureau put together a week-long training for those officers on the Rapid Response team, presumably to address their mental health and give them a break from the violence, the rioting, [...]
