Armed Man Shot By Deputies in Virginia After Advancing with Gun in Thanksgiving Day Incident

by Ryan MasonNovember 28, 2020

Culpeper County deputies were called to a residence in the 13000 block of Brock Lane in Culpeper, Virginia on Thursday on reports of a domestic incident at approximately 2 p.m.

The deputies were confronted by an armed man, later identified as Ellis A. Frye Jr, 62 who was sitting armed with a gun on the front porch of the residence when deputies responded to the scene.

Despite deputies’ attempts to de-escalate the situation for over half an hour, the suspect re-entered the home to retrieve multiple weapons before advancing on deputies on the scene when he was then shot.

The suspect was taken to Culpeper, UVA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Per policy in an officer-involved shooting, the Virginia State Police have taken over the investigation.
