Portland and Seattle – Inauguration came and went with no reported problems at the DC Capitol. The rioting hotspots of Portland and Seattle, however, did not.
Antifa had planned protests in both cities. Much like the protests of the past eight months, they each turned violent.
Given all we've heard about the threat of insurgency, a healthy media would inform the national populace of coordinated riots that occurred across major American cities, particularly when it resulted in the destruction of the state headquarters of a governing political party. pic.twitter.com/CTZAR5zKsr

New York, NY – During a Black Liberation March on Martin Luther King Day in New York, 11 officers were injured following a dispersal order. The march started from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and moved toward City Hall.
Twenty-eight arrests were made during the event after the violence started. Most arrests were made for “disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and blocking the roadway.”

Waltham, MA – During National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day earlier in the month, the Fitzgerald Elementary School posted a photo to their social media of a wooden thin blue line flag with the words “Happy National Law Enforcement Day” above it.
The principal of the school, Jennifer Santillo, and PTO president Lauren Fournier decided that the post wasn’t appropriate and had it removed.
In addition, the two women sent a joint letter addressing the post to parents. They mentioned that the thin blue line holds “opposition to Black Lives Matter and other social justice movements” and that “the use of the image was therefore a regrettable [...]
Portland, OR – LENN’s Voice of American Law Enforcement, Randy Sutton, spoke to a group of Portland Police officers who have been on the front lines of the rioting for the majority of the last eight months. Sutton called his seminar Pride in Policing and used his time to remind officers that most of the people across our nation support law enforcement, as well as to address the rising issue of Post Traumatic Stress Injury/Disorder in policing.
The leadership with the Portland Police Bureau put together a week-long training for those officers on the Rapid Response team, presumably to address their mental health and give them a break from the violence, the rioting, [...]
Sacramento, CA – Monday evening, a six-year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office as well as his K9 were killed in a shootout following a pursuit.
An officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle, but the suspect led police on a chase. The suspect crashed at the Cal Expo grounds, and the suspect refused to follow orders such as exiting the vehicle. Police shot out his rear window with less lethal rounds and deployed a K9.
At that point, the suspect immediately started shooting.
The K9 was shot and killed. Police returned fire. A deputy was shot and killed, and another deputy injured. That deputy is at UC Davis Medical Center and is [...]
Toledo, OH – Chief George Kral with the Toledo Police Department said that one of his officers was shot and killed Monday evening in a standoff.
Officer Brandon Stalker was struck one time during the incident which began around 3:30pm Monday evening in the 2300 block of Fulton Street. Officers noticed a suspect at that location and believed he was wanted in connection to a cathedral being vandalized earlier in the day.
After police made contact with the suspect, he pulled out a firearm and went into a nearby house. SWAT and a negotiator were called to the scene. They negotiated with the man for several hours, and eventually used gas in the house.

We’re very grateful to say that the injuries [...]
Dallas, TX – In April of 2018, Armando Luis Juarez murdered Officer Rogelio Santander and seriously injured Officer Crystal Almeida. He also shot a civilian, Scott Painter, and two other officers, Officers Delgado and Vasquez. This week, he accepted a plea deal, saving himself from the death penalty and instead being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The deal was that he plead guilty and wave all possibility of appeals.
Juarez had allegedly shoplifted inside a North Dallas Home Depot and was detained by a loss prevention officer (Painter). Officers Santander and Almeida arrived to take custody of Juarez. During the contact at some point, [...]
Silverton, OR – Driving in a small town south of Portland this weekend, I saw a lovely sight: Along someone’s private fence were several thin blue line flags, lawn signs reading “Dear Officer: #WeNeedYou,” and a large handwritten sign that read “Tell my family I love them.”
The significance of that sign, as many know, is that it’s the last radio transmission of Toledo, Ohio Police Officer Anthony Dia before he was shot and killed on Independence Day last year.
The transmission was chilling and hit the hearts of people everywhere. Officer Dia was 26 years old and left behind a wife and two sons, ages eight and six.

Corporal Brian LaVigne, 54 years old, was sitting in his car with the overhead lights activated on the shoulder of Lumsden Road, not involved in the pursuit of 28-year-old Travis Zachary Gabriel Garrett by other officers.
Garrett sped away from officers in a Nissan Maxima and suddenly veered across two lanes of traffic and to the right, towards LaVigne’s patrol car. Over the radio, one of the deputies in pursuit yelled, “He’s aiming for your car. Get out of the way, get out of the [...]
Horry County, SC – Officer Melton “Fox” Gore with the Horry County Police Department was killed in a crash on Tuesday afternoon.
The 57-year-old officer was removing debris from the roadway on Hwy 22 near the intersection of Hwy 31 around 4 pm. Police say he was hit by a 2007 Mazda SUV.
It wasn’t reported whether the driver of the SUV would be facing charges, but Horry County Police Chief Joseph Hill said, “I’m pretty sure that person did not start off the day thinking they were going to kill a police officer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to that driver.”
Chief Hill also said, “That’s typical of Fox, if you knew him. He cared about this community. [...]
Corona, CA – An officer driving an unmarked SUV appeared to have been targeted by a shooting suspect on a California Highway Saturday.
The officer, who hasn’t been identified, was driving a black Ford Explorer patrol vehicle on I-91 when he was hit from behind. The impact caused the officer to spin out of control.
The officer pulled over to the side of the road once he stopped spinning, at which point the driver of the other vehicle ran towards the officer with a gun drawn. The officer reportedly started shooting at the driver from the side of the SUV while the driver is behind it, but it’s said that the civilian wasn’t hit.
The driver [...]

I never thought I would have to write this article, but the last week has shown me that we are in dire times. Our politicians love pitting the police against the public and our officers will be put in awkward positions. This article is not for non Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s). If you are a citizen reading this, our officers need your support. Read away. But the best thing you can do is show support for them so that they can keep their job while maintaining the constitution. For our active cops, this is for you.My City Asked Me to Violate the 1st Amendment
I’m speaking from experience. Several years ago, [...]
Washington, DC – It was confirmed on Sunday that a second US Capitol Police Officer has died. Officer Howard Liebengood, at the age of 51 years, has died by suicide following the events at the Capitol on January 6.
Officer Liebengood was a 15-year veteran of the department and was serving in the Senate division. He was off-duty when he died.
Capitol Police Union Chairman Gus Papathanasiou said in a statement, “Every Capitol Police Officer puts the security of others before their own safety and Officer Liebengood was an example of the selfless service that is the hallmark of USCP. This is a tragic day.”
It’s been reported that Officer [...]
Washington, DC – LENN previously reported on the breaching of the United States Capitol on January 6th during the Electoral College certification. Since that time, an officer has died from an injury suffered during the unrest.

Seattle, WA – There is little debate against the fact that drugs and mental health illness is the main problem for homelessness as well as many criminal activity in many major cities, including Seattle. One reporter with KOMO News, Eric Johnson, has presented a logical and obtainable solution to the problem.
In a documentary called “Fight for the Soul of Seattle,” Johnson thoroughly documents the homelessness, drugs, prostitution, and despair that plagues the city streets. Then he presents a solution he has called Hope Haven. Hope Haven is a two-facet involuntary holding facility for those in mental health or addiction crisis. One side is maximum security [...]
The term “Alive Day” is seldom spoken among Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s). What you’ll hear is “anniversary of your incident”, “that day everything changed”, or “when it happened”, but rarely will you hear of it in terms of a day to reflect upon. Most try to shutter the past and compartmentalize the trauma. It is easier to ignore it than accept it and move past. With little fanfare from their agencies, it’s a wonder it’s even acknowledged.
At LENN, we choose to celebrate the day of change. It is a life altering event for those affected. Rather than dwell on the past, we will lift up those that survived. After all, why should we mourn what has not been lost when we should be [...]

Meanwhile, what’s been described as a pipe bomb was found at Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters, which is located blocks from the Capitol. Likewise, a “suspicious [...]
Kenosha, WI – Kenosha District Attorney Michael Graveley announced Tuesday that there would be no charges filed against Officer Rusten Sheskey in the August 23 Jacob Blake shooting.
Graveley pointed to several reasons for his decision, including the fact that Blake was getting into his vehicle after telling police he had a weapon inside. He was ordered by police several times to drop the knife in his hand, which he failed to do. Police had tased Blake three times unsuccessfully before shooting him as he got into his SUV after being in a heated argument with his fiance.
His fiance had called 911 to say Blake took the keys to her rental car. Police knew that there [...]
Yakima, WA – On Tuesday afternoon, two Yakima Police Officers were run over by a fleeing suspect vehicle.
The officers responded to the Walmart on East Chestnut Street to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle. Citizens called in saying they recognized that the pickup truck was one that was stolen during a robbery last week.
The officers attempted to talk with the two suspects inside the car, when the car drove off, running both officers over in the process.
It’s reported that at least one officer fired his weapon as the vehicle passed, but it’s not believed that he made contact with the car.
Both officers are listed in serious but [...]
Retired police officers are often times not quite ready to completely give up a life of work even as they leave law enforcement. This statement is even truer when an officer is forced to retire early for medical, mental health, or other reasons.
I can say from personal experience of being medically retired after just about seven years of service that it is daunting to face a future not knowing what you can do next. My major hindering thought was that I wasn’t qualified for anything else, and I know I’m not the only one who has had that thought.
What Kim Triplett-Kolerich, cofounder of Sheepdog Resume, reminded me and so many others of, though, is that [...]

Reportedly, 45-year-old Troy McAllister, who was on parole for robbery, was speeding and ran a red light, struck another vehicle and and then lost control of the vehicle he was driving, which slammed into the two women and killed them.
